For your first assignment, please write a short response to the question:

What does it mean to be engaged in your learning?

Write a claim: Would the United States have become a free country had the colonists not taken a stand against the king?  Explain.  Once you’ve posted your claim, respond to at least two classmates’ claims.

Today you’re going to research the connection between clothing and social class in Colonial America.  Go to http://www.history.org/History/teaching/dayInTheLife/interact_dress.cfm.  Click Dress the Part.  Spend 15 minutes deciding what clothing you think people of different social classes would have worn.  When you’re done: 1. Write a comment below–How was clothing in the Colonial Era different than clothing today?  2. In your historian’s journal, answer: How did a person’s class in Colonial America impact the way he or she dressed?  Give examples.
